Praised for her evocative lyricism and joyful, genuine approach, 23-year-old violinist Aubree Oliverson is proving to be one of America's most compelling young artists, distinguishing herself with clear, honest, and colorful interpretations. Her performances have been described by the Miami New Times as “powerful… brimming with confidence and joy” and “masterful” by the San Diego Story.
Highlights of Aubree’s upcoming concert schedule include solo engagements with the Pasadena Symphony and Nic McGegan, San Diego Symphony with Edo de Waart, Columbus and Des Moines Symphonies with Carl St. Clair, Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra with Maximiano Valdés, Redlands Bowl Orchestra, Roma Tre Orchestra in Italy, Boca del Río Philharmonic in Mexico, and the Brno Philharmonic in the Czech Republic in works of Bach, Mendelssohn, Bruch, Haydn, Saint-Saens, Dvorak and Barber. Her schedule also includes a video recording project produced by VideoClassica and ArsClassica Association performing solo violin music of Bach, Ysaye, Paganini and Prokofiev.
Aubree’s recent engagements include opening the 21/22 Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra season with a two-week residency, performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto under maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto along with chamber music performances in music of Stravinsky and Marsalis; her debuts with Pacific Symphony, San Diego Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, Cappella Istropolitana in Vienna, the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, Kontrapunktus Baroque Ensemble, and the Rome Chamber Music Festival; performing as soloist on a mini-tour with the Utah Symphony; and six performances of Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with Carlos Miguel Prieto and Paolo Bortolameolli conducting the Orchestra of Americas on their tour of Mexico. She has also previously soloed with the American Youth Symphony, Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra, Colburn Orchestra, Colburn Baroque Ensemble, Millennial Choir and Orchestra, Salt Lake Pops Orchestra, Pasadena Orchestra, Utah Chamber Artists, and the Innsbrook Festival Orchestra, among others.
A dynamic and sensitive chamber musician, Aubree has collaborated with artists such as Stefan Jackiw and Robert McDuffie in Harris Hall at the Aspen Music Festival and School, with Gil Shaham on tour in Mexico, and with Lynn Harrell, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Orli Shaham, Robert Chen, Andrew Marriner, and Clive Greensmith as part of the Colburn Chamber Music Society in Los Angeles. Aubree also performed a movement of Bach’s Double Violin Concerto with Joseph Silverstein and the Gifted Music School Orchestra in Salt Lake City. She was invited to the Rome Chamber Music Festival in 2020 and 2021, performing works by Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, and Beethoven, and she was a participant in the David Finckel/Wu Han Chamber Studio at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2015 and 2016. Ms Oliverson has performed to sold out recital audiences at the Grand Teton Music Festival, SOKA Performing Arts Center, and the SCERA Center for the Performing Arts, and has upcoming recitals in Rome, Los Angeles, and in Ridgecrest, California as part of Midori’s Partners in Performance Recital Series.
Passionate about reaching a broader audience and the importance of music education, Aubree has traveled to over 100 schools throughout the Western United States, encouraging thousands of children to work hard and participate in music, and has also spoken at national education conventions. Recently, Aubree presented digital master classes for organizations including the Orchestra of the Americas, Music to Save Humanity, and Kontrapunktus Baroque, and she participated in a masterclass and side-by-side performance with the Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra in Mexico. In 2018, she gave a masterclass and performance in China, and worked individually with over thirty young violinists.
Aubree graduated from the Colburn Music Academy in Los Angeles in 2016 and is a former student of Debbie Moench, Eugene Watanabe, Danielle Belen, and Boris Kuschnir at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. She currently studies with Robert Lipsett, the Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Violin Chair, at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. Ms. Oliverson plays on a 1743 Sanctus Seraphin violin thanks to the generous loan of Dr. James Stewart. She won the ‘2021 Special Prize of Merit’ for violin at the prestigious Verbier Festival Academy in Switzerland, a National YoungArts Foundation award, was honored as a United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and was selected for the Dorothy DeLay Fellowship and concerto performance at the Aspen Music Festival. Aubree enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, language study, swimming, and dark chocolate.
