What is your favorite thing about being a dancer?
My favorite thing about being a dancer is getting to hear from people after a show about how the performance moved or inspired them. It is such a good reminder that the arts have an important place in the world.

What teacher or mentor inspired you the most?
In all honesty, my family has inspired me the most. I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to pursue my career without my parents guiding me. Their support and the support of my siblings has been unwavering, and I’m really lucky to have them.

Do you have any pre-concert rituals or routines?
I actually have a couple of pre-performance rituals. One of my favorites is that I have what are called “Light Lessons.” It’s an idea from my favorite Broadway actress, Sierra Boggess. I have a bag filled with small cards that have different positive words or phrases on them. Before a show I’ll pull out one card, and whatever word is on the card sets my intention for the show.

What is your favorite food or cuisine?
I absolutely love Salt Block Biscuit Company here in downtown Dayton. If you haven’t been, do yourself a favor and go!

What advice would you give to aspiring dancers?
One piece of advice I would give is to understand that everyone has strengths and weakness, and that whatever your weaknesses are, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a career. Being kind to yourself when you’re having a bad day is the most important part of the job.
