Kwami Barnett is a professional clarinetist, music educator, and conductor in Greeley, Colorado. He is professor of clarinet studies at Colorado Christian University, principal clarinet of the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra and Municipal Band, associate director of bands at University School located in Greeley, and conductor of the orchestra at Faith Church in Fort Collins. Kwami is Assistant Band Director at the University of Northern Colorado, under the guidance of Dr. Lauren Jacobson, and Dr. Wesley Broadnax.
In demand as a performer and clinician, Kwami has held positions with ensembles in Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and Colorado. He also served two years in the U.S. Army band at Fort Lee, Virginia as a clarinetist. Kwami has conducted masterclasses at Liberty University (Virginia), The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and The University of South Florida, and various honor band and clinics throughout Colorado.
When not performing or teaching, Kwami can be found scaling some of Colorado’s top 14ers, or frequenting coffee shops throughout the northern Colorado/Greater Denver area.
