MICHEAL HEATH WILLHELM-WAID

Micheal (he/him) is the creator of the innovative Costume Culture Conversation - An EDIA-related series hosted in conjunction with the Dallas Theater Center Costume Department exploring the intersections of costume, fashion, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. He is a cancer survivor and ostomy awareness advocate, having been a featured contributor on the United Ostomy Awareness Association's May 2022 blog. Also a Costume Designer and theatre maker with a career spanning more than twenty-five years and currently the Costume Director for the Tony award-winning Dallas Theater Center. Prior to this he worked as the Resident Costume Designer for the Midland Community Theatre, the second largest community theatre in the United States boasting a base of 500+ volunteers and home of the popular Summer MuMmers melodrama and olio. Micheal is the Chief Executive Wizard at East Texas Stitchcraft, based in Ben Wheeler, Texas, offering custom sewing specializing in costumes, men’s casual clothing, and pagan ritual garb. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alabama in Costume Design & Technology and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jacksonville State University where he studied Theatre, English, and Vocal Performance.
