Anish Raj Pandit
Vocalist

Anish Raj Pandit is an American oboist and Indian vocalist of Indian descent, and former Resident Oboe of the Symphony Orchestra of India. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music as a Herbert Presidential Scholar and his Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston as a Dean’s Scholar.

Pandit has appeared with major orchestras and festivals, including the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Evansville Bach Choir, Pacific Music Festival in Japan, National Repertory Orchestra, Chautauqua Festival Orchestra, Miami Music Festival and Opera, National Music Festival, and Sewanee Music Festival. He has performed alongside renowned artists such as Wagnerian soprano Christine Goerke and violinists Jorja Fleezanis and Alex Kerr.

The first recipient of the Alfred Savia Distinguished Artist Award, Pandit was also a finalist in the 2018 Indiana University Woodwind Concerto Competition, where he performed the Strauss Oboe Concerto. Dedicated to music education, he has taught Music History at the Symphony Orchestra of India Music Academy and assisted in reed-making instruction at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.

Outside of orchestral performance, Pandit is an avid vocalist. His debut album, Pitāmbar*,” explores Indian classical vocal traditions, while his second release, “Songs of France: Music of Fauré, Ravel, and Poulenc”, features French art songs for oboe and piano. He has also published two original works for solo oboe incorporating Indian melodic idioms, now performed at recitals nationwide and distributed by TrevCo Music.

His principal teachers include John Ferrillo, Linda Strommen, Titus Underwood, and Dr. Elizabeth Robertson. Pandit’s artistry bridges cultures and traditions, blending the expressive nuance of Western classical performance with the melodic richness of Indian music.
