My name is Ally Donnelly, and I am a senior at Castle High School. Next year I plan on attending IU Bloomington for a double major in Flute Performance and Psychology. Throughout high school, I have been involved in the Indiana All-State Honor Band and Orchestra for all four years. I have also attended Interlochen Arts Camp twice. At school, I am in the top wind ensemble and jazz ensemble, who was the state champion this year.
My time in EPYO has been very rewarding. I joined EPYO 2 in eighth grade and had a great time with my initial full orchestra experience. I have spent the past four years in EPYO 1 and spent three of those mentoring, and I have made many great friends and learned about both orchestral flute playing and musical responsibility. I also was the winner of the 2019 EPO Young Artist Competition, which allowed me to solo with the EPO the day before COVID-19 lockdown started, making the experience extra special. Overall, EPYO has been one of the most educational experiences I have had throughout the last five years and I am very grateful to have been a part of the group.
