Chaz Ritenour, Alice May

Mr. Ritenour holds the position of Alice May Director of Education and Community Programs with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. In this role, he serves as the Youth Orchestras Manager/Librarian, an Ex-Officio member of the Philharmonic’s IDEA Committee (Inclusion, Diversity, Education, and Accessibility), and oversees the production of all education and community outreach programs – including the Lollipop Concerts, the Helen M. McKinney Young People’s Concerts, the New Traditions Diversity Series, the Young Artist Competition, and Symphony of Color, among others. Mr. Ritenour also holds standing conducting engagements with local community ensembles, including River Brass Youth Band and the Hills Church. 

An active music educator for the past 10 years, he has taught aspiring music students at every age and ability level, holding previous positions as an elementary music teacher with Greater Clark County Schools, instructor of concert and marching percussion at Jeffersonville High School, and maintained a strong studio with Opus1 Music, where he taught guitar, piano, and percussion. He currently teaches percussion at Harrison High School and privately from his home. Mr. Ritenour has performed with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ballet Indiana Orchestra, River Brass Band, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and is a former member of the Evansville Philharmonic’s esteemed “music-telling” troupe Tales and Scales. While a member of this ensemble, Mr. Ritenour held an artist residency with the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida. 

Mr. Ritenour holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Evansville, where he studied percussion with Mr. Ross Erickson and Dr. Bill Shaltis and classical guitar with Renato Butturi.
