Hail to the Quilters!

Look past the walkers and wheelchairs, wrinkles and gray hairs,
That’s what we see on the surface,
But give them a needle, some fabric and thread, they’ll show you what’s going on in their heads
And reveal what our eyes often miss.

Personal histories of lives that they built
Vivid memories yet to fade.
All stitched together with love in a quilt
Each beautiful story hand made.

People and places and pets all preserved
In patterns that show off their pride.
Each piece of the puzzle a prize well deserved
Truths the years can’t steal or hide.

These amazing quilts—pieces of art
Allow residents, visitors, all to take part
In celebration of life at Shannondale Senior Living
Through the joyful memories these quilts are giving.

Years from now these tributes to the past
Stitched with loving devotion will long hold fast
To lives well-lived at Shannondale
To the Quilter’s Club we all say, “Hail! Hail”
