SAMANTHA HOPE GALLER

Hometown:  Bedford, Massachusetts

Samantha Hope Galler is a native of Bedford, Massachusetts. She trained for 13 years in the Cecchetti method, with The Ballet Academy, Inc., under direction of Frances Kotelly. Galler spent winters performing with The Northeast Youth Ballet under direction of Denise Cecere. She completed her studies on scholarship with the Boston Ballet School and received the PAO Merit Scholarship during her Trainee year. Galler received additional summer training at the Boston Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and the Boston Conservatory. Following her 2008 graduation from the Boston Ballet School, Galler joined Cincinnati Ballet under direction of Victoria Morgan as an Anthony Albano and K. Ann Choe–Albano Fellow.

She joined Alabama Ballet from 2009-2014 under direction of Tracey Alvey and Roger Van Fleteren. Samantha was honored to perform most corps de ballet, soloist, and principal roles in their repertoire. Pivotal roles included Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, Odette and Odile in Swan Lake, The Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, The Sylph in La Sylphide, Myrtha in Giselle, Dryad Queen and Mercedes in Don Quixote, the Rancher’s Daughter in Agnes De Mille’s Rodeo, and Dark Angel in Serenade.

In 2014, Galler joined Miami City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet and was promoted to the rank of soloist in February 2018. She has been privileged to perform corps de ballet, soloist, and principal roles in a wide range of George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Paul Taylor, and Alexei Ratmansky ballets among many other prominent choreographers.

Samantha’s teaching career spans nearly 13 years in classical ballet and pointe technique ages 6-85. She has guest taught across the United States at ballet and performing arts schools including Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, The Chicago High School for the Arts, Alabama Ballet, The Ballet Academy, Northeast School of Ballet, Kirova Ballet, International Dance Academy, Schramel Conservatory of Dance, for Boston Ballet students, Live Oak Dance and The Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, and for international students via zoom.

Samantha established a Mentorship Program Series for the pre-professional division of the Miami City Ballet School back in 2018 that still continues today.
