ASHLEY KNOX*

Hometown:  Shelby Township, Michigan


Ashley Lynne Knox grew up in Shelby Township, Mich. She began her dance training with Ann Parsley’s School of Dance at age 3 and studied more seriously with Cornelia Sampson at The Rochester School of Dance until the age of 15. Her summers were spent at the School of American Ballet, where she continued for two years of training in their year-round program. After one year in Miami City Ballet School, she joined Miami City Ballet as an apprentice in 2002 and was promoted to the corps de ballet in 2003. Since joining the company, Knox has been featured in ballets such as George Balanchine’s SerenadeSymphony in Three MovementsDivertimento No.15, Scotch Symphony and Symphony in C. She has also joined the company on acclaimed tours to New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Ottawa, Vancouver, the Kennedy Center, and Paris.

Knox is also proud to hold the record of being an eight-time U.S. National Champion of Scottish Highland Dance, as well as being the third American to win the title of World Champion in Cowal, Scotland in 1999.

In 2017 Ashley was promoted to Soloist, and in 2021 she was promoted to Principal.
