Ethan Rodgers-Gates is a senior at the University of Richmond, majoring in computer science and minoring in data science and statistics. He is from Durham, NC, and first began studying cello at the age of eleven. Over his musical journey, Ethan played in the Eastern Regional Orchestra, recorded cello tracks for Durham musician and producer Andy Magowan, and performed in various weddings and church services with pianist and vocalist Jeff Whicker. In addition to cello, Ethan also plays guitar and has played in blues venues in Chicago, such as Hard Rock Cafe and Navy Pier. At the University of Richmond, Ethan takes private cello lessons with Jason McComb and has participated in both chamber ensembles under the direction of Dr. Joanne Kong and the symphony orchestra under the direction of Dr. Naima Burrs.
