Brianna Sklute Gatch is an accomplished music educator, conductor, and hornist, currently serving as Director of Bands at Clover Hill High School in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Under her leadership, Clover Hill’s band program has flourished, encompassing a wide range of ensembles including Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, and AP Music Theory. She also leads the school's extracurricular performing groups and serves as Department Chair for Fine Arts.
Ms. Gatch holds a Master of Music in Wind Band Pedagogy from the University of Louisville, where she studied conducting with Dr. Frederick Speck, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she was mentored by Dr. Terry Austin. She graduated summa cum laude from both institutions and currently holds National Board Certification in Music.
A passionate advocate for music education, Ms. Gatch serves as a cooperating teacher for student teachers from VCU and James Madison University and is the current Auditions Chair for VBODA District 3. Her contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including Chesterfield County's Performing Arts Teacher of the Year and the prestigious R.E.B. Award for Teaching Excellence, which supported professional development travel to Japan and Hawaii.
As a performer, Ms. Gatch is an active horn player with the Commonwealth Winds and the University of Richmond Wind Ensemble, and has previously performed with the University of Louisville Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. She has also served as Assistant Director of the University of Louisville Horn Ensemble and conducted university-level concert bands and methods courses as a graduate assistant.
Her professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu, the National Band Association, Conductors Guild, NAfME, and the Virginia Music Educators Association, among others.
