Emmy Weldon (Scenic & Projection Design), Assistant Professor of Scenic Design at the University of Richmond, is an artist-scholar and production designer known for crafting immersive environments across theatre, film, television, and live events. They earned an MFA in Scenography at Ohio University, where they also first discovered their passion for teaching.
Emmy’s practice is defined by a belief in the arts as a tool for transformative education and cultural change. They approach each design as a narrative canvas, leveraging every visual element to enrich and amplify the story. Their passion lies in creating productions that fearlessly confront difficult truths, advocate for social justice, and envision more inclusive, sustainable futures built on shared prosperity.
Recent design credits include Urinetown, The House That Will Not Stand, Fairview, Moving Bodies | Bodies Moving, and Everybody at the University of Richmond as well as the sustainability-centered Eco-Shakes Project: As You Liked It!, a community-engaged production created with over 200 students, faculty, and community members.
