Toby Tate is a senior majoring in music at the University of Richmond, with an emphasis in composition and recording. His work incorporates a mixture of found sound from field recordings and synthetic material from analog and digital instruments. He also plays guitar in the Jazz Ensemble and drum set and guitar in the Little Big Band.
Tate has interned at Figure 8 Recording in Brooklyn, New York, where he worked with Grammy-winning producer William Brittelle and Pulitzer Prize finalist Ted Hearne on Farming, an experimental album featuring hyperpop electronics and choral performances by The Crossing.
Tate is in the midst of recording his debut project, with an expected release date in 2026.
