Patricia Herrera
Community Engagement Dramaturg

Dr. Patricia Herrera is a community-engaged educator, scholar, and artist who turns to the arts as practices of listening, remembering, and imagining otherwise. Her work emerges from long-term community relationships and understands performance as a shared practice of care, resistance, and possibility. She is the author of Nuyorican Feminist Performances: From the Café to Hip Hop Theater and co-editor of Sound Acts, Parts I and II. Since 2011, she has collaborated with Richmond residents on documentary theatre, digital archives, exhibitions, and docudramas addressing education, migration, racial struggle, gentrification, inequality, HIV/AIDS, segregation, and Latino life. Her scholarship appears in numerous leading journals.
