Rachel Oppmann is thrilled to be making her scenic design debut at MTSU with Pirates of Penzance! Rachel studies Theatre Performance and Scenic Design with a minor in Musical Theatre at Middle Tennessee State University. She spent this past summer working as the scenic intern and a scenic painter at The New London Barn Playhouse in New Hampshire. This is Rachel’s first independent scenic design at MTSU having previously worked on Our Town (asst. Scenic Design/Scenic Painter), Tomato Plant Girl (Scenic Charge), The Super Flute (Scenic Design), Alice By Heart (Scenic Design), and many more. She has been seen on MTSU’s stage recently as Ilona Ritter (She Loves Me), and Elizabeth Proctor (The Crucible). Along with designing at MTSU she has worked at theatres such as The Center for the Arts, Central Magnet School, and The Arts Center of Cannon County, where she is designing Children of Eden in the spring. She is honored to work with such an amazing creative team and excited to take everyone on a trip to the coast of England!
