Kevin O’Donnell is the Faculty Coordinator for Sound and Media Design, whose focus is Sound Design and Composition.  Before coming to MTSU Kevin was based in Chicago for many years, where he worked at Steppenwolf, Lookingglass, Northlight, The Court, and Chicago Shakespeare Theatre amongst many others; his work in Chicago theater has earned him over 20 Jeff Award nominations (10 awards), and 2 After Dark Awards for Outstanding Season.  In New Orleans he has worked at Le Petite Theatre, The Southern Rep, and the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane, and been nominated for 2 Big Easy Awards for Sound Design.  Regionally he has also worked at The Seattle Rep, The Berkeley Rep, Penobscot Theatre (Bangor, ME), First Stage (Milwaukee), as well as DTW, The Skirball Center, and 59E59 in New York City.  Upcoming projects include shows with Chicago Children’s Theatre, The Nashville Rep, a coproduction between Lookingglass and the McCarter Theatre, and the Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival. A graduate of the Northwestern University School of Music, he has also recorded and toured extensively as a drummer.
