Kyle Kennedy

Kyle Kennedy is Professor and Head of Acting in his thirteenth year at MTSU. He received his MFA in Acting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993, after which he worked extensively as an actor Off-Broadway and in regional theatre. Some theatres Kyle has worked at include La MaMA, The Ridiculous Theatrical Company, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Asolo Repertory Theatre, Florida Studio Theatre, Creede Repertory Theatre, and Cortland Repertory Theatre. In addition to directing numerous shows for the department, Professor Kennedy has acted alongside MTSU theatre students in productions of Peter And The Starcatcher, Romeo And Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Uncle Vanya. Film and television credits include The Ballad of the Sad Café, by Academy Award winning producer Merchant-Ivory, a co-star role on the MacGyver television series (2017), and various short films. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and an active member in the Southeastern Theatre Conference. Professor Kennedy is a specialist in the Meisner Technique, earning a teaching certificate from the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City in 2006.
