Will Perkins is a diverse teaching artist who has enjoyed directing and singing lead roles in opera, operetta, and musical theater. He is equally at home with the works of Mozart as he is barbershop or contemporary musicals.
As Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera at Middle Tennessee State University, Dr. Perkins teaches applied voice, voice-related classes, and directs the MTSU Opera Theater. He is grateful for the support of fellow faculty and staff who have fostered the collaborative efforts of the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance following the success of their inaugural co-production of SWEENEY TODD in the fall of 2021.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Will maintains an active schedule of performing and directing. He was most recently seen in INTO THE WOODS (The Baker) at the Center for the Arts. This past spring and summer he was in LAMB OF GOD (Peter), a modern oratorio, during a concert at the Salt Lake Tabernacle which was broadcast worldwide; and then during a European tour of the production. He currently serves as artistic director of the BYU Broadway Bootcamp – a summer theatre intensive for high school students from around the country and beyond.
