Darren E. Levin
Lighting Design Faculty Advisor

Darren E. Levin holds a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology with Honors from Missouri State University, and MFA in Theatrical Design (Lighting Design Concentration) from The University of Texas at Austin.  He teaches Lighting Design and Technology for the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Levin’s creative activity encompasses over 135 productions as lighting designer for Theatre, Dance and Opera. Credits with Nashville Repertory Theatre include Violet, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Ragtime (First Night Nashville Honors – Outstanding Lighting Design), Every Brilliant Thing, Pipeline (First Night Nashville Nominee – Outstanding Lighting Design), Avenue Q, Topdog/Underdog, Smart People, Posterity (Regional Premiere), Good Monsters (World Premiere), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Credits with Studio Tenn Theatre Company include It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play and Camelot (First Night Nashville Nominee – Outstanding Lighting Design).  

Mr. Levin also designs with Black Hills Playhouse, Green Mountain Opera Festival, Theatre West Summer Repertory, Mountain Rep Theatre, and Cedar Point Live Entertainment with credits including Legally Blonde, Grease, The 39 Steps, Side Show, Songs for a New World, The Music Man, Footloose, 9 to 5, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Rape of Lucretia, La Cenerentola, and She Loves Me.  

Levin is a proud member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 205 – Austin, Texas and United Scenic Artists 829 (USA829).
