Cello | Winner, 2025 Metropolitan Symphony Concerto Competition

Kevin Mi, the winner of the 2025 MYSO Metropolitan Concerto Competition, is a seventh-grader at Swallow School. He started taking cello lessons at age five under the guidance of Lindsay Patterson and subsequently Adrien Zitoun. Kevin is in his fifth year in MYSO, and he is currently co-principal cellist of Metropolitan. He has previously served as principal cellist of Sinfonia and Philharmonia, and participated in MYSO's summer chamber music conference. Kevin was a winner of the 2021 MYSO String Orchestra Concerto Competition and 2024 Wisconsin Philharmonic Shining Stars Competition.

In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, reading and travelling.

Kevin would like to thank Metropolitan music directors John Emanuelson and Jonathan Winkle, his cello teacher Adrien Zitoun, and his accompanist Melinda Lee Masur. Kevin is excited once again to be a soloist at MYSO.
