Composer Program Notes:
A triolet is traditionally a short, 8 stanza poem descending from the rondo. Originating from France, it’s form is ABaAabAB, where uppercase letters are directly the same lines, and lowercase letters are variations on the corresponding uppercase line with the same rhyme. Here the form is interpreted with more liberty, where A/a and B/b sections use primarily the same motives, A sections are of similar character to each other, as with B sections, and a/b sections are variations of similar character on their respective uppercase sections.
