Charlie Plante is a 17-year-old composer and pianist from Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Since beginning piano at age three and composition at eight, he has been acclaimed in numerous state, regional, and national competitions for his work, recently winning nationals for composition through the Music Teachers National Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs. Charlie has collaborated on his works with multiple ensembles from the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Waukesha County Conservatory of Music, UW-Whitewater, UW-River Falls, the Junior Composers Institute, and other professional ensembles, as well as receiving lessons from the Eastman School of Music and the Juilliard School. Next fall, he will be continuing his musical studies in composition at Eastman School of Music.
Charlie studies composition with Mr. Sam Ecoff and piano with Mrs. Margarita Kontorovsky. He would like to thank his current teachers and his John Downey Creation Project mentor, Dr. Frank Stemper, for their insightful dedication.
