Alaina Wu is a fifth grader at Oriole Lane Elementary School in Mequon. She began playing the violin at age four studying with Ms. Natalie Stawarski and is currently studying with Ms. Talia Pavia at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. Now in her third year at MYSO, Alaina joined the Sinfonia in third grade, served as co-associate concertmaster in Philharmonia, and is currently one of the co-concertmasters in the Metropolitan Symphony. She has also participated in MYSO's Chamber Ensemble Program and Summer Chamber Music Conference.
Alaina enjoys playing alongside the friends she has made throughout her journey. MYSO continues to challenge her musically, teaching her to listen to others and to be herself. She hopes to continue growing as a violinist and connecting with her peers.
When she is not playing the violin, Alaina enjoys swimming with the Schroeder YMCA swim team and practicing Tae Kwon Do. In her free time, she also enjoys reading, playing with her friends and family, and cuddling with her two cats.
