Marisa Lehner, age 17, has been playing the flute for 7 years and is a junior at Hamilton High School in Sussex. She is first chair in the HHS Wind Symphony, where she plays flute and piccolo. Marisa also enjoys leading the school band during marching season as a Drum Major. She is on the Dean’s list and is a member of the National Honor Society. Marisa is a captain of the HHS Forensics team and member of HHS math club. She volunteers as a book club leader for students at the intermediate school and as a math tutor.
Marisa began her musical journey with the piano at age 5. She is a four-time winner of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music’s Mae Gayles Scholarship. She has received numerous awards in piano solo, concerto, and duet at the National Federation of Music Club’s state competitions, including first place in piano solo for 2022.
Marisa has been a member of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra for four years. Currently, she is a member of the Chamber Flute Ensemble and Senior Symphony. She is a winner of MYSO’s Flute Chorale Concerto competition in 2020, and received an Honorable Mention in the Philharmonia Concerto Competition in 2021. Recently, Marisa has been selected to play in the 2023 WSMA Honors Band. She played principal flute in the WSMA Honors Orchestra in 2022.
Marisa would like to thank her flute teacher, Heather Zinninger, her piano teacher and accompanist, Kayme Henkel, and her parents for their support and guidance. Marisa is thrilled and honored to be playing with the Chamber Flute Ensemble!
