Adela Ramirez, 15, has the honor of studying cello under Ms. Ravenna Helson. She is a proud recipient of the Tony Lucas Award which she earned as a MYSO Progressions student, when she began playing cello six years ago. Her love of music translates to the dance floor as well, receiving scholarships for The Milwaukee Ballet and Pius XI High School’s dance and orchestra programs. Her dedication has provided numerous opportunities to present her work, including performing at the Black Violin and SistaStrings concert in 2019. Adela advanced to state for her piece for WSMA Solo and Ensemble and has received Honorable Mention for MYSO's String Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2019. This summer, she will attend the Sphinx Performance Academy at the Cleveland Institute of Music for an intensive chamber music and solo performance experience. In her free time, you can find her cataloging music, playing soccer, dabbling in art and design, and volunteering at church. Adela would like to thank her family and her dedicated teacher for their love and support.
