Clark Snavely

Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Clark Snavely is a Merit Scholar Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s (MIC) Academy, a training center for advanced pre-college students, where he studies with Almita Vamos and Davis King. He made his solo orchestral debut at age of 13 with the Madison Symphony Orchestra. He has subsequently gone on to perform as soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Festival City Symphony, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, and Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO). 

A passionate orchestral musician, Clark is in his sixth season with the MYSO program where he has served as concertmaster of MYSO’s most advanced orchestras. He is also a concertmaster in the MIC Academy Chamber Orchestra. In 2021, he served as concertmaster of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra at Interlochen Arts Camp where he was an Orchestral Scholar recipient.  

Clark began his chamber music studies through the MYSO Chamber Ensemble Program under the tutelage of Frank Almond and Pamela Simmons. He currently performs with other MIC Academy students in the Pelios Quartet, which recently took second place in the Barnett Chamber Music Competition, and has advanced to the finals in the St. Paul String Quartet Competition as well as the quarter-finals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Clark has spent summers at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Madeline Island Chamber Music Program, and the Interlochen Advanced String Quartet program.

Clark has won or earned top prizes in competitions including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Stars of Tomorrow, Madison Symphony Bolz Young Artist, Walgreen’s National Concerto Competition, DePaul Concerto Festival, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition, Thursday Musical Young Artist Competition, VIII Colibri International Instrumental Competition, Concord Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition, Wisconsin Philharmonic Shining Stars, and Civic Music Association, among many others.
