Oboist Lydia Morency is a junior at Germantown High School and has been playing the oboe for six years. This is her fourth year playing with various MYSO orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Lydia is the winner of the 2024 MYSO Senior Symphony Concerto Competition, the 2024 Waukesha Area Symphonic Band Concerto Competition, a semifinalist in the 2024 Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Stars of Tomorrow Competition, and the winner of the 2023 Racine Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition. This is her fourth year participating in the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) State Honors Projects and WSMA State Music Festivals, earning an exemplary performance award and several nominations in the latter.
In addition to playing in the Germantown High School Wind Symphony, Lydia plays xylophone in the school’s Wall of Sound marching band and is an active member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She has also played in the school pep band and pit orchestra. Outside of music, Lydia has earned multiple academic excellence awards, is a National Honor Society member, and will be yearbook editor next year.
