John Phillip Sousa is a name synonymous with marches. From Stars and Stripes Forever to The Liberty Bell March, the composer certainly knew what he was doing when it came to this particular genre. The Liberty Bell March, inspired by a letter from his wife about the return of the Liberty Bell to Philadelphia following a tour of the relic, features all of the Americana and excitement that we’ve come to expect from Sousa. This work was one of the first sold to the John Church Company and was the first sale to grant Sousa a substantial financial reward for his work.
