Sadie Goodman
Soprano

Soprano Sadie Goodman holds Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (2009) and Master of Music Education (2010) degrees from Samford University, a Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera (2013) from Northwestern University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Alabama (2015). While a student at Northwestern University, Sadie worked closely with composers John Musto and Ricky Ian Gordon on the roles of Mid-Aged Woman and Rosasharn in their respective operas Bastianello and The Grapes of Wrath. She enjoyed singing in the operas The Great Gatsby with composer John Harbison in attendance, and as Second Spirit in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte directed by Edward Berkeley at the Aspen Music Festival in 2013. Sadie has sung for composer Terre Johnson as the soprano soloist for the premieres of his works Missa Femina (2014) and Song of the Captive (2016). She was the featured soloist for the world premiere of his work for orchestra, chorus and soprano entitled The Wind (2017) at Carnegie Hall in New York City accompanied by an orchestra and combined choirs from Alabama.


For over a decade she has been a chorister, cantor and soloist for daily masses broadcasted internationally on the Eternal Word Television Network which reaches a worldwide audience of between 5 and 25 million persons daily. Through EWTN she is featured on a TV special recording entitled Nativity in Song, a recital which she created with baritone Zachary Palamara. It was posthumously made into a CD and DVD available for purchase on through EWTN’s Religious Catalogue. In addition to this, she is featured on two other recordings by EWTN: Great Hymns of the Faith and The EWTN Family Christmas Special, broadcast on television and available as a CD and DVD.


Sadie has performed on concerts with Christian artist and worship leader Charles Billingsley entitled “Shadow of your Smile” with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and “It’s Christmas Time Again” featuring Denver and the Mile High Orchestra. She has also sung with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra for educational concerts featuring storied performances crafted by Candace Neal. She is also regularly featured with members of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in concerts and recitals sponsored by Over the Mountain Festivals.

For four years Sadie served on the music faculty at Judson College where she taught Applied Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Opera Workshop, Vocal Literature, Music History, Class Voice and Diction for Singers. Currently she is an Instructor for the School of the Arts and the Division of Music at Samford University in courses of Music History, Opera Literature and Arts in Society. She performs regularly as a soloist and cantor for the Catholic Diocese of Alabama and several Catholic parishes in Birmingham including Our Lady of Sorrows, the Cathedral of St. Paul, and St. Mark the Evangelist. She and her husband John are members of Cathedral Church of the Advent. John works for the Bradley law firm, and they have two children, Calvin (6) and Caroline (4).
