Steven Mann
Pianist

Dr. Steven Mann has performed extensively as soloist, chamber musician, and with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. As a highly sought after collaborative pianist he is equally versatile in both vocal and instrumental repertoire. Having shown musical promise at an early age, Steven enrolled at the Orange County School of the Arts and studied privately with Dr. Mark Sullivan. Further studies include a Bachelor of Music degree and a Performer Diploma from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he was a student of Distinguished Professor of Music Menahem Pressler. He received a Master of Music Degree and a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with André-Michel Schub.  

Dr. Mann has worked and performed with such distinguished artists as Tony award winner Lindsay Mendez, Grammy award winners Susan Graham and Zuill Bailey, Sir Roger Norrington, Bernard Labadie, Ying Fang, Carol Vaness, Dawn Upshaw, Aprile Millo, Virginia Zeani, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Jerome Lowenthal, André Laplante, Christopher Elton and Roger Vignoles. Steven has also worked on Broadway and had the pleasure of joining the orchestra of the First National Tour of the Tony Award winning musical An American in Paris as a featured pianist, performing music by George Gershwin. 

Steven is a laureate of the Frinna Awerbuch International Piano Competition, Music Teachers Association of California Young Artists Guild, the Kenda Webb Memorial Scholarship, and the Theodore Presser Scholarship. He has participated in numerous music festivals including Music Academy of the West, The International Keyboard Institute and Festival, The TCU-Van Cliburn Institute and the Adamant Music School. 

Steven and his husband Dr. Raymond Wong have performed together at The Library of Congress for The Ruth Bader Ginsberg Honors, on the runway for Josie Natori’s New York Fashion Week Show, and on PBS “One Voice”, and “WICKED in Concert.” Their company, Steven Ray Artists have produced performances for HRH Princess Anne, the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, as well as the 2022 Platinum Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.

In addition to operating a successful private piano and vocal studio in New York City, Dr. Mann has served on the faculty at Indiana University in the Pre-college and College divisions, at Manhattan School of Music in the Keyboard Skills department, and is currently on staff with The Orchestra of St. Luke’s and at The Juilliard School.
