Longmont Symphony Orchestra is proud to present special guest, Dr. Angela Des Jardins. Angela's mission is to use the ability of space to ignite the human sense of wonder, to engage students, teachers and researchers in aerospace activity, and to cultivate a spirit of service.
Dr. Angela Des Jardins, a solar physicist by training, is the Director of the Montana Space Grant Consortium and Montana NASA EPSCoR, and is a Physics Research Professor at Montana State University. Montana Space Grant and NASA EPSCoR are programs that work to strengthen education and research in Montana in fields related to aerospace science and engineering.
Angela is passionate about enabling others, especially young people interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). For example, Angela is the innovator of the Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project, which engaged 1,000 students from across the country in sending live video (a first!) from high altitude balloons to NASA media outlets on eclipse day 2017.
Angela finds great joy in being with her kids and being able to work on space topics while remaining in Montana.
