Bass-baritone Jason Zacher is quickly gaining attention on a national level as a rising new talent and versatile performer. During the summer of 2021, Mr. Zacher joined Des Moines Metro Opera (DMMO), covering the role of Jupiter in Rameau’s Platée. In the summer of 2022, Mr. Zacher will rejoin DMMO, singing the role of Jim in the Midwest premiere of American Apollo (Geter/Palmer), as well as covering Bottom in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. During the 2021/22 season, Mr. Zacher made his role debuts as Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro and Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera in the Heights, returned to Ars Lyrica to sing Mercury in Bach’s Hercules at the Crossroads (BWV213), and presented Ralph Vaughan William’s Songs of Travel in entirety at Merkin Hall. In addition, Mr. Zacher will be returning to Opera in the Heights this spring to reprise the role of Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin. After this, Mr. Zacher is set to join both Kentucky Opera and Opera Orlando as a studio artist for their upcoming 2022/23 season.
