Avery Boettcher
soprano (Fernandina Beach, FL)

Soprano Avery Boettcher has been deemed “a formidable talent on the rise”, praised for her captivating stage presence and rich, expressive vocal colors.  The 2023 season started off with Ms. Boettcher performing Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Vero Beach Opera, Violetta Valéry in a concert presentation of La Traviata with Panama City Symphony Orchestra, Charlene in John De Los Santo’s new opera Service Provider with Amelia Island Opera, and a concert of opera classics with the Washington Opera Society at the French Embassy in Washington D.C..  Later this spring she will make her debut with Gulf Shore Opera, performing the role of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.  Ms. Boettcher was also recently invited to perform on a masterclass with tenor extraordinaire Javier Camarena, an event sponsored by the American Friends of the Donizetti Opera Festival.   She spent the summer season of 2022 with Santa Fe Opera where she performed the title role in an excerpt from Rossini’s Armida.  Preceding her time at SFO, she completed a residency during the 2021/22 season with Palm Beach Opera as a Benenson Young Artist, where she performed the roles of Belinda in Dido & Aeneas and Frasquita in Carmen, and covered Adina in L’elisir d’Amore and Valencienne in The Merry Widow.  Prior to PBO, Ms. Boettcher was a 2021 Gerdine Young Artist with Opera Theatre of St. Louis where she covered Patricia Racette in the role of Elle in Poulenc’s powerful one-woman opera La voix humaine.  She also spent two seasons with Detroit Opera as a resident artist, performing Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Woglinde in Twilight Gods (Götterdämmerung). Ms. Boettcher has won 1st place in the MIOpera Competion, 3rd place in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Midwest Region, and most recently won 3rd place in the Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition.
