Bridget Cappel
mezzo-soprano (Dallas, TX)

Mezzo-Soprano, Bridget Cappel, has been praised for her “beauty of tone and honesty of feeling” and “dazzing coloratura” with “a real mezzo-soprano voice that is very flexible.” This season, Bridget was thrilled to make her highly anticipated role debut as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Shreveport Opera under the direction of Megan Marino. She will sing Flora Bervoix this Spring in their production of La Traviata. During the 2022 season, Bridget created the role of Toypurina in Hector Armienta’s World Premiere of Zorro (Fort Worth Opera) and made her debut with The Dallas Bach Society as La Poesie in Les Arts Florissants. Ms. Cappel is a winner of the Opera Mississippi John Alexander National Vocal Competition’s young professional division (2019) and was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2019) at the district level in Tulsa. Bridget has performed around the country with companies including Kentucky Opera (Mercedes & Carmen Cover, Carmen), Des Moines Metro Opera (Paquette Cover, Candide), Fort Worth Opera (Hansel, Hansel & Gretel, Maria Cover, Maria de Buenos Aries), Opera Mississippi, Charlottesville Opera, Seagle Music Festival, and was cast to sing Siebel in Faust at Opera NEO (2020). Other roles include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Carmen (La Tragedie de Carmen) Meg Page (Falstaff), Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady). Outside of traditional opera, Bridget sings regularly with the opera/rock mashup band The Tapestry and runs a robust private voice studio.
