Laura Melton is a Birmingham native musician from Helena, Alabama. She began taking vocal lessons at a young age and has a background in jazz singing and choral singing. In 2018, she joined UAB’s concert choir and began taking vocal lessons from Dr. Won Cho, where she began learning classical and operatic repertoire and participated in several local singing competitions and masterclasses. She also sang with the Mountain Brook Baptist choir for several years, during her time at UAB. Upon completion of her undergraduate education, Laura participated in the Assisi Music Festival in Assisi, Italy, performing in select vocal recitals and masterclasses. During her time in Italy, she also sang in several Italian Catholic masses. Laura now works as a registered nurse at UAB and still enjoys singing opera in her free time.
