Adam Stermer was born into a military family, spending his youth travelling, usually with his nose in a book, and arriving in Alabama in time to complete high school. He studied the visual arts at the University of Montevallo in the late 20th Century, before teaming up with Sam Barnett to create Barnstormer Pizza in Montevallo, Alabama. Between 1994 and 2003 Barnstormers presented thousands of touring and local live performances.

In 2004 Mr. Stermer joined the production team at UAB’s Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center, taking on the duties of technical director in 2009, and serving in that capacity until 2022. Mr. Stermer now contributes his skills and experience to The Alabama School of Fine Arts and their Dorothy Jemison Day Theater. He has been a member of IATSE Local 78 since 2006 and currently serves at the pleasure of the body as President.

Adam is a proud father and grandfather, and lives with his partner in Vestavia Hills Alabama with two teens, two dogs and two cats.
