Kristin Kenning is a stage director from Detroit, Michigan, and is Director of Opera at Samford University. Recent productions include The Pirates of Penzance, Little Red’s Most Unusual Day, and The Three Little Pigs for Opera Birmingham; La Rondine, Il Matrimonio Segreto, and La Cantarina for Mobile Opera; The Ghosts of Gatsby for the OPERA America New Works Forum and Seagle Festival; The Merry Widow, Naughty Marietta, The Desert Song, and Die Fledermaus for the Birmingham Music Club; Mlle. Modiste and The Vagabond King for Minnesota's Skylark Opera; Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro, Hansel and Gretel, Lucinda y las Flores de la Nochebuena, and On the Town for Samford Opera; The Match Girl’s Gift on the Minnesota Centennial Showboat; and The Ladysmith Story at the Red Eye Theater in Minneapolis. She is a champion of new work and has directed often for the Atlanta Opera’s 24-Hour Opera Project. Kristin recently directed at the young artist program Opera Viva in Verona, Italy, and future projects include staging the premier of a new family opera entitled Dragon’s Breath for Samford Opera and Rigoletto for Mobile Opera.
