Brian Denton is a tenor from Birmingham, Alabama. He holds a BA in Music Education and Vocal Performance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he studied opera and voice with Dr. Kristine Hurst-Wajszczuk and performed domestically and internationally with the UAB Concert Choir & Chamber Singers under Dr. Philip Copeland. Brian made his opera debut with Opera Birmingham in the 2008 production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Since then, Brian has performed chorus and supporting roles in numerous productions with Opera Birmingham, including Lucia di Lammermoor, Faust, Carmen, Hamlet, Rigoletto, The Magic FluteLa Bohème, and La Traviata. Additionally, Brian has performed in Opera Birmingham’s Sounds of the Seasons concert annually since 2016, with the Opera Birmingham Chorus for The Eagles’ 2022 Hotel California Tour, and in several Opera Shots performances. Other notable performances include as a soloist on Bloch’s Sacred Service at Carnegie Hall (Dr. Lester Seigel conducting), Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Justin Brown conducting) and Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins (Carlos Izcaray conducting, with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.)
