Emily Pulley
Kate Keller

Acclaimed soprano Emily Pulley’s radiant voice and electrifying acting have won her both national and international acclaim on the operatic stage. At home in both traditional and contemporary repertoire, this season Ms. Pulley will sing Kate Keller in the world premiere of Carla Lucero and Marianna Mott Newirth’s TOUCH, about the life of Helen Keller, with Opera Birmingham, and she also returns to Eugene Opera to sing the Witch in Hansel and Gretel.

Most recently, Pulley has held tenure at Lyric Opera of Chicago, was seen as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance with Nashville Opera, and performed as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd with Opera Omaha, Zita in Gianni Schicchi with Tulsa Opera, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings in the world premiere of The Secret River with Opera Orlando, and Sister 1 in the world premiere of Why I Live at the P.O. with Urban Arias.

Ms. Pulley made role débuts in the title role of Carmen with Central City Opera, Mrs. De Rocher in Dead Man Walking with Minnesota Opera, and Becky in Morning Star with On Site Opera. Other recent engagements include her performance as Madeline in Three Decembers with Nashville Opera, Desiree in A Little Night Music with Madison Opera, Martha in Faust with Opera Omaha, and Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore. She performed as Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd with Mill City Summer Opera and Madison Opera, of which critics said, “the dark side hollered balefully in soprano Emily Pulley's half-crazed Beggar Woman.”
