Baritone Hunter Mitchell recently earned his master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There, he studied with world-famous vocalists such as Nathan Gunn and Sarah Wigley and performed roles such as David in Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge and Milcom Negley in Hilliard and Boresi’s The Last American Hammer, a contemporary opera which had its collegiate debut with Lyric Theatre @ Illinois. During his undergraduate career at the University of North Alabama, Hunter snag roles such as Marcello in Puccini’s La Bohéme and James Mills in the collegiate premier of Ricky Ian Gordon’s The House Without a Christmas Tree, in addition to many other lead roles with UNA Opera/Musical Theatre.

Hunter’s loves performing contemporary opera and golden age musical theatre especially, but really just loves performing for people and learning new and exciting music with talented musicians.
