Founded in 2001, Kugelplex plays wild, soulful music at concerts, festivals and jewish lifecycle events throughout the United States. Our mission is to sustain and evolve the old-world klezmer tradition into the 21st century and beyond. The ensemble has performed with Joan Baez, Oakland Symphony, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir, Frank London, Linda Tillery, Jewlia Eisenberg, Faisal Zedan, Nils Frykdahl, Kitka and others. Kugelplex has received awards from the Zellerbach Family Foundation and San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music. Our band first performed at the Break Bread in 2007 for the Messiah sing along and this year we will return for the 11th time. Kugelplex is honored to pay tribute to Michael Morgan, who gave us the opportunity to perform on this epic stage and inspired us to collaborate, experiment, and grow as artists.
