Lauded for her “theatrical magnetism,” American mezzo-soprano Olivia Vote joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera in the 2018-19 season for productions of Die Walküre, Suor Angelica, and Rigoletto, in which she made her house debut. The following season she returned to sing in the premiere of Ahknaten and cover Charlotte in Massenet’s Weather. In recent seasons, Olivia has sung with Hawaii Opera Theater, Cincinnati Opera, Atlanta Opera, North Carolina Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Opera Philadelphia, and Opernhaus Zürich. Her diverse range is exemplified in such roles as Cherubino in Le nozze de Figaro, Nicklausse in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and the Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos; to Adalgisa in Norma, and Mere Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites.
Olivia began her term at Opernhaus Zürich in the Internationales Opernstudio and upon finishing the program was asked to return for several productions. Prior to Zürich, Olivia sang with Wolf Trap Opera, the Academy of Vocal Arts, and completed her Masters Degree at Yale University.
This season you can hear Olivia singing Maddalena in Rigoletto with the Florentine Opera, Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte with Cedar Rapids Opera, Nefernerferuaten in Akhnaten and covering the Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Metropolitan Opera.
