Lyric Soprano, Sarah Stembel, a New Orleans native, has performed on several stages across the Gulf South and across various regions of the United States. This spring, Sarah will be performing the role of Papagena in Die Zauberlöte with Opera Mississippi. Last spring, Sarah was an Apprentice Artist with Sarasota Opera. During her time in Sarasota, she performed in the productions of Carmen, Lucia di Lamermoor, and Luisa Miller. Previously, she has performed with MiOpera (Edith, Pirates of Penzance), Dayton Opera (Doris Parker, Charlie Parker’s Yardbird). Sarah was a Resident Artist with Dayton Opera in the Fall of 2022. She completed her Masters of Music degree in Opera Performance at the Maryland Opera Studio in spring of 2021, where she performed the roles of Violante (Sandrina) in La Finta Giardiniera and Miss. Wingrave in Owen Wingrave. In 2019, she played the role of Musetta in La Bohème with The Natchez Festival of Music. In 2018, Sarah graduated with her BM in Vocal Performance at the University of Southern Mississippi. During her time at Southern Miss, she was in several productions with the Southern Opera and Musical Theatre Company, including Christine Daaé in The Phantom of the Opera, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, and in the ensembles of Turandot, Rigoletto, Carmen, and Tosca. Sarah was a finalist and a winner of several competitions including the John Alexander National Voice Competition (3rd place), Gulfcoast Steinway Vocal Competition (1st), Voices of Mississippi Competition (2nd place), and the grand prize winner of the Delta Symphony Concerto Competition.
