Bryon K. Black

Bryon K. Black II is excited to make his debut with Glow Lyric Theatre. Bryon is a Doctoral candidate in Choral Conducting at the University of South Carolina. A native of Akron, OH, he previously served on the faculty at Kent State University. He also has extensive work in church music, including six years as the Director of Music at Tallmadge Lutheran Church. Bryon’s choral compositions have been performed by several collegiate ensembles. In May 2022, he conducted the premiere of his choral/orchestral arrangement of Be the Change, as part of Kent State University’s commemoration of the campus shootings on May 4, 1970. Bryon is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and served on the Ohio Choral Directors Association Board as the Chair of the Standing Committee for Diversity.
