Moontides
Composed: 2018
Premiered: 2018, Toronto
Duration: 11 minutes

Moontides was premiered by the National Youth Orchestra of Canada in July 2018 at Koerner Hall in Toronto. The NYO performed Moontides on its European tour with stops in Berlin and Edinburgh. The piece was commissioned by KV 265, a non-profit organization whose mission is the communication of science through art to communities worldwide, and a film depicting lunar tides was produced by Dr. José Francisco Salgado – an Emmy-nominated astronomer, experimental photographer, and visual artist who creates multimedia works to communicate science in engaging ways – to accompany live orchestral performances of Estacio's score. The film will be premiered in Halifax during Symphony Nova Scotia’s Side-by-Side concert with the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra.
