Anna Barker (she/her) is a choreographer and performer based in Durham, NC. She attended Durham School of the Arts, NC School of the Arts, and Temple University. After spending 10 years dancing in Philadelphia and NYC, Anna relocated back to her hometown and founded her dance theater company, real.live.people. Since its inception, the company has presented three evening-length works, it's not me it's you in 2014, Feature Presentation in 2016, and Again, but this time with feeling in 2018. Anna produced her first feature-length dance film Level Up, which premiered in 2021. She has also recently opened The Movement Studio, a Pilates-based movement practice in Durham. Her performance credits include Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre, Megan Bascom & Dancers, Doug Varone, Doug Elkins, VECTOR Dance Theater, RAD, and Culture Mill. Choreography credits include ADF, Duke Performances, Philly Fringe Festival, APAP NYC, NC Dance Festival, Carrboro Film Festival, Tobacco Road Dance Productions, WAXworks Triskelion, and DNA Dance Theater. Her recent awards include NC Arts Council Artist Fellowship (2018), Durham Arts Council Emerging Artist Grant (2019), and a COVID Relief Grant (2021).
