Cate Cameron (she/her) is a 22-year-old dance artist currently pursuing her BFA in Dance at Montclair State University with a minor in Musical Theatre. A lifelong resident of Durham, she was first inspired to start dancing after taking a tour of the ADF studios. Before college, she studied at Barriskill Dance Theatre School in Durham for nine years, training in ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, tap, and dance improvisation/composition, as well as musical theater. Cate has attended the ADF summer program six times, both as a high schooler and as an adult. Throughout her time as a dancer, she has had the privilege of performing in works by Stefanie Batten Bland, Christian Von Howard, Maxine Steinman, Michelle Manzanales, Helen Pickett, Sherone Price, Chalvar Montiero, Kristin Clotfelter, and Michelle Gibson. She was also recently selected to present her new work Cellular Playground in the Montclair State University Dance Makers concert. A lover of experimental movement, Cate works from a place of curiosity, exploration, and play. She is also fascinated by the intersections of dance and theater and loves to explore work where the two art forms overlap. She is thrilled to be a part of this work as one of her first professional performing jobs.
