Carrie Plew (she/her) received her BFA in choreography and dance performance from UNC-Greensboro and trained at Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth. In 2023, Carrie will be certified in Laban Movement Analysis through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies. Her final project was an evening of choreography: “Breathe, Flow, Forward, Grow: an exploration of the concepts of Laban Movement Analysis and Bartenieff Fundamentals.” Carrie’s choreography has been presented off-Broadway, in site specific dance installations (NY), in the NY Fringe Festival, and on stages across NC. She founded Danceploration Expedition, a panoramic, improvisational, traveling, movement experience. Carrie performed as a singer and actor off-Broadway and in bands in NYC and NC. She is a featured actor in the award-winning independent film The Fear Inside (Director: Rick Hamilton). NY Dance credits include Maverick Dance Experience, INSPIRIT, Malleable Dance Theater, and Sydnie L Mosley Dances. NC Dance credits include John Gamble Dance Theater, Jan Van Dyke Dance Group, Horn in the West, X Factor, and Centennial Station Dinner Theater. Carrie is proud to have taught at Broadway Training Center, Dance Project: The School, UNC-Greensboro School of Dance, and ADF's Samuel H. Scripps Studios. Her artist residencies include The Field (NY), NC Dance Festival, and Creative Greensboro’s Hyers Theatre Residency. Carrie received the 2022-2023 Artist Support Grant from The Arts Council of Greater Greensboro for the creation of her new work, Irmgard Evolving.
