Program Note
Dipsao—(Greek) to painfully feel want of, and eagerly long for, those things of which the soul thirsts.
Lately, I’ve been asked to lead workshops and dance events with the thought of resiliency in mind. Don’t get me wrong, I want to be resilient. I want to thrive. But what happens before that? Or if getting over something never happens? Thirst is a body word, a visceral state of being deprived of what is essential to survival. Thirst invites the audience into a space of longing and of loss. A space that unapologetically refuses to let go of those things that the soul needs.
